My grunkle Stan had a lot of ghost type Pokémon that liked to stare at me and scare me.

Ah. I heard some of them feed on that--scaring people, I mean. That's probably why they did it. You just gotta scare 'em right back.

Sabine was way too huge to be scared of someone like me.

No. Not until my grunkle left, and it's just a Houndour.

You'll wanna train that one up, then. For some reason, those do real well against ghosty sorts.

Or just avoid ghost types. He only gave me one ghost egg, and that's a Duskull. I don't really want to be around it in case it's anything like it's mom.

Do Pokémon tend to take after their parents? You'd think they wouldn't, what with getting raised by other people and all.

Yikes. I guess sometimes they just come by it honestly. Eevee can evolve into Dark types, though, you know, if you need something with an edge against Morty.

He decided to become a Glaceon. I bought evolution stones and he just snagged that one...

[Dipper, why are you letting your Pokémon bully you like that?]

Oh, those are cool. [York, did you just--] North's evolved into a Sylveon. I woulda pegged her for a future Flareon myself...

[Oh.My.God. York, no.] That just means he gave her a ton of affection. My sister would wind up with one of those.

You think? They've got friendship-based evolutions, too, though, don't they? Umbreon and Espeon, I thought.

Those are friendship based and time of day based. Sylveon is straight up affection.

Huh. Guess I'm not sure where they're drawing that distinction or why, but okay. It's true, though. North spoils the cheese out of his team.

It's what I came across when trying to figure out why the Eevee line deviates the way it does with those three. Apparently affection and friendship aren't gauged the same. But Sylveon is the only affection evolution Pokémon that they've found so far.

Interesting. Well, they do say Eevee's the evolution Pokémon. Makes sense that even subtle changes in condition like between affection and friendship would affect it more strongly than others.

There used to be a thing where you actually had to take an Eevee to either a place with a Ice rock or a Leaf rock to evolve them into Leafeon and Glaceon. Now they sell smaller versions of those rocks.
