Goooood evening, residents of Johto. It's a lovely, drizzly January day, and I've got a question you folks might be able to answer for me. Consider it an informal poll.

[York looks comfortable and cozy as he lounges around his house, still wearing his ugly Christmas sweater.]

Now, I understand that this place just isn't equipped to support a Grifball League, but there's got to be more to life than just hockey and baseball. Are there Pokémon Olympics or something I should tune into? And, hey, what kind of sports did you guys have back in your worlds? Were they fun? Would you recreate 'em here if you could?

[He rubs his chin for a moment, then adds:]

If anyone around Goldenrod's interested in forming some kind of low-key community sports team--y'know, something for people, not Pokémon--let me know. I might be able to help us get something set up before baseball season starts.

The game, not the aliens. Had stuff like the axes, too. I don't really think anyone ever thought to put 'em together, though.

I guess usually because sane people set up commissions and things to monitor player safety.

But, man, the Gym challenge is all right for what it is, but there's just nothing like leaping off a collapsing skyscraper in the middle of a firefight.

No kidding. And standin' on the roof of the department store ain't nearly the same thrill, is it?

It is not even remotely tall enough.

I wasn't a sniper, so that's not as vital to me, but believe me, dude, I get you. You military?

I was a soldier once. We called it somethin' different, and it sounds like it predates the hell out of your gravity axes and energy shit.

Oh, yeah. You know, it seems like everything does? It's been kinda interesting, adjusting.

You're tellin' me. Most of the shit I know from home is what everybody else calls 'ancient'. S'pretty goddamn weird, or it was until I got used to it.

Yeah, except then there's just some really weird shit that people just accept as commonplace. You know how the ball technology seems to store Pokémon as energy? That's really advanced, I think we only got that kind of thing in the experimental stages, if at all.

Yeah? I ain't sure anyone's ever figured out how that works exactly--tell you the truth, I think there's gotta be magic involved or somethin'.

[York scratches his temple.]

Well, yeah, but. I dunno, it seems the people around here accept what's obviously impossible to us as science rather than magic.

Call it whichever you want, I guess. [Lancer shrugged crossing his arms.] At this point, it probably doesn't matter too much.

Yeah, that's true. Hey, as long as it works, right? It's not like I gotta know the physics behind it before I use it.
