Okay, so does albinism happen to run in particular Pokémon species? I thought it might've been a newborn thing, but it's been a while and normal fur hasn't grown in yet for him at all.

[A young, energetic Sneasel clambers his way up the back of York's chair. He's kind of excessively pink.

Someone's got his first shiny is what's happening here.

The Sneasel waves at the camera, then slips back down in an undignified tumble before running off again to play with York's Rotom. York watches him go before shaking his head.]

I ask 'cause I know that can cause eye problems, but he hasn't complained about it and Delta Two hasn't picked up any bad news from him. But he's a Dark type and a baby, so I dunno how much she'd be able to get from him, anyway. Do I need to get him glasses? Keep him out of the sun?

Looks like you've already been told about shinies.

I don't really understand the color variations, though. It seems strange that it's usually just one standard type, and then occasionally a completely different one.

Right? I thought with animals, usually you got a bunch of different colorings depending on breed and environmental factors and stuff. This is just weird, man.

I've been here over a year and I'm still not used to it. I don't know how anyone gets used to this sort of thing.

Folks can supposedly get used to anything, but I think what's throwing me off the most is hearing about songs and movies I knew on Earth, but with the words changed to Pokémon stuff. I swear there was something called "Chingling Bells" playing at the store the other day.

It's kind of a fun game, trying to guess what the new titles are gonna be and then looking up the thing yourself. Though I guess I'd be better at it if I knew more Pokémon.

Some things, sure, but even most Pokemon have pun names.

A ghost called Gastly, a wasp with... drills called Beedrill. It's strange.

Back in the twentieth century when aliens were only a crackpot conspiracy theory, folks used to call them "little green men," 'cause that's what people thought extraterrestrial life was gonna look like. So, L.G.M. It's kinda cute.

In Japan, they've always been drawn as looking like octopi.

I'm better about Pokemon battles than I used to be.

I'm supposed to be a Breeder, but mostly I just make sure my Pokemon are happy.

Oh! Yeah, me too--the breeding thing, I mean. I kinda like the battling, but, well. Military background.

Battling isn't so bad, since the Pokemon enjoy it.

One of these I'll get along to actually trying to breed Pokemon. I'm not sure how it works, exactly. From what I've heard you sort of turn around day and suddenly there are eggs there.

Yeah, that's basically how it goes. Leave 'em in a room while you go to work and you'll come back to a clutch or two. Is that the word? Clutch of eggs?

I think so. It's something like that, anyway.

It's a weird thing, having everything hatch from eggs.
