Okay, so does albinism happen to run in particular Pokémon species? I thought it might've been a newborn thing, but it's been a while and normal fur hasn't grown in yet for him at all.

[A young, energetic Sneasel clambers his way up the back of York's chair. He's kind of excessively pink.

Someone's got his first shiny is what's happening here.

The Sneasel waves at the camera, then slips back down in an undignified tumble before running off again to play with York's Rotom. York watches him go before shaking his head.]

I ask 'cause I know that can cause eye problems, but he hasn't complained about it and Delta Two hasn't picked up any bad news from him. But he's a Dark type and a baby, so I dunno how much she'd be able to get from him, anyway. Do I need to get him glasses? Keep him out of the sun?

Hey, nothing wrong with a little cosmetic mutation here and there, long as it's not hurting anybody. The leader of my squad was a mutant like that.

'Cause she's a redhead. Red hair's considered a recessive mutation, if you didn't know that before.

[Wow, that's news to him. He knew about dominant and recessive genes, sure, but that little factoid makes him rub his chin for a moment.]

Huh. Wonder if the same's true for silver hair...

Probably. At least, it would be where I'm from. Most people don't get that color till they're older.

Believe me, I get that a lot.

[Even as a kid, he probably had some people tease him 'cause of his "old man hair." What a pain...]

But I've seen some pretty crazy hair colors. Blue, purple, pretty sure I saw someone here with rainbow hair once.

Rainbow, huh? They mighta fit in pretty well with us back in the squad days, then. I don't think any of us had hair up to regulation.

Must've been some loose regulations if people kept breaking the rules. Or did they just not care enough to enforce them?

I always assumed we got special treatment on account of our skills in the field, but rules were apparently not something the Director cared a whole lot about. Among other things.

Sheesh, then why were the rules there in the first place? Seems kinda pointless if they're not important.

Well, they're probably there to stop guys like the Director from doing the things the Director ended up doing, if you ask me.

Didn't help much in our case, but you can't win 'em all, I guess.

So what did the Director do? You can't just say stuff like that and leave me hanging.

[Was it over the top? Stupid? Dangerous? Terrifying? Maybe some combo of all of the above. Heck if he knows, but he's definitely curious.]

[It was fucking illegal was what it was. Also, totally immoral? Yeah. That too.]

Oh, man. You sure you want me to get into this, dude? It is not a happy story.

[Oh. Well... hm. That's a bit more unpleasant, but he can still run with it if York's willing to talk about it.]

Long as you're up for it. I'd understand if you're not, though.

[Especially if it's as severe as he's making it sound. Yikes!]

[York thinks about it for a moment, then shrugs one shoulder.]

Short version is, he lied, he used us, and he hurt a whole lot of people just doing their jobs. I won't bore you with the details.

[He grimaces, briefly looking away. That's... dark. And to think their little chat was so much lighter before.]

Geez... I'm sorry. Guess I should've expected something like that.

[People in power can and often do exploit said power, anyway.]

Did you guys ever take him down? I mean, I guess it's more complciated than that...

[But wishful thinking.]

I may've had a hand in massively crippling his operation, yeah.

[He sounds like he's not quite sure whether or not to be proud of it. On the one hand, yeah. Still...well, actually. Yeah. He can be proud.]

But finishing the job's apparently some ways in the future with respects to where I came from. Or when I came from, I suppose.

[He sighs, wrinkling his brow and rubbing his chin with his thumb.]

Right. There's no easy fix, is there? Bet there's a lot of different factors involved, same with politics...

Yyyup. But my squad leader, she's ahead of me and my friend. She's already taken care of it, in her time.
