.001 Δ [Video/Action for Cherrygrove]

[The feed flips on to show a man holding a brush in one hand and a young Shinx in his lap. Both of them appear to have been freshly bathed, with the damp Shinx swaddled in one of Cherrygrove Inn's warm, fluffy towels. When all of her wriggling and protesting comes to naught, she just lies there in her towel burrito and seethes. York, on the other hand, has found that shops in this world do, apparently, sell hair product for humans, and he couldn't be happier. He's fixed his hair for the first time in days. Life is wonderful.
Not that vanity's necessarily the reason he hasn't introduced himself to the PokéConnect community at large yet. It's just. You know. Coincidence.]
Good morning, people. And Pokémon, too, of course, can't forget you guys. For those of you I haven't spoken to yet, I'm York, I'm one of your more recent unwitting transplants to sunny Johto. Or, well, partially cloudy Johto, anyway. How about that weather, huh?
[The temperature has dropped literally twenty degrees in the five days since he got here, oh my god, why. Being caught out on the road in yesterday's rainstorm sucked. Now he's warm and dry and comfortable in a clean shirt a couple sizes too big for him (and he's not exactly a small man). Really, what could be better than being alive here and now?
He rubs the Shinx's fur drier, unwraps her, and then holds her still before she can escape so he can brush the tangles out. She mewls fussily, but his hands are steady, and eventually she relaxes--if mutinously--into the attention. He chuckles a little.]
But okay, I'm not actually here to make small talk. I got a question for you folks.
[He turns the PokéGear with the back of his brush to show another Pokémon, an Elgyem, bundled up in a blanket on the bed, fast asleep.]
Can someone tell me more about Psychic Pokémon? [He goes back to brushing.] I get that they read minds--Delta Two there communicates with me all the time--but she doesn't use words so it's hard to get more...complicated ideas across, sometimes. I was wondering, can you train them to talk? Or do other things? These guys are obviously a lot more intelligent than the animals back on my Earth, so I guess you could say I'm curious about what they can do.
[The Shinx's eyes are half-closed now as York brushes away. Someone's a sleepy baby.]
'Preciate your time. Over and out.
((Action also available for Cherrygrove, where he can be found at the inn or browsing the PokéMart stock.))

Date: 2015-09-25 05:03 pm (UTC)How are you finding Johto, may I ask? I know the, um...the first stretch of walking can be a bit...difficult, for some.
[SHE LITERALLY ALMOST DIED IN THE WOODS, IT WAS AWFUL but let's not talk about that.]
video;
Date: 2015-09-25 09:54 pm (UTC)You know? It was okay, slogging through the rain aside. Can't say I'm used to traveling at the mercy of the elements like that, but it doesn't look like I can just rent a Pelican to pick me up, huh? Just gotta make do.
To whom do I owe the pleasure, miss?
video;
Date: 2015-09-25 10:11 pm (UTC)More and more I'm finding myself thankful to have started with so dear a Pokemon as my Tropius, really — I'm certain I'd not have made the trip, surely, if not for her willingness to walk some of the way for me.
video;
Date: 2015-09-25 10:36 pm (UTC)[With the brush, he gestures over his shoulder at the sleeping Elgyem.]
She's not really built for long distance, I don't think.
video;
Date: 2015-09-25 11:24 pm (UTC)[She will politely refrain from pointing out that The Poor Dear™ is an alien, mostly because she is not altogether familiar with aliens and is just kind of chalking its appearance up to "...well, I'm sure it has a great personality".]
There are horses, though, if you've any familiarity with that? And they're very fine for riding, once they're full grown.
video;
Date: 2015-09-25 11:44 pm (UTC)Oh, yeah, the ones on fire? Ponyta, right? Someone I met my first day has one of those. Lockon Stratos. Wonder how he's doing. I got the impression he didn't actually know much about horse riding.
['It certainly looks easy enough,' was what Lockon said, in fact. York has heard enough famous last words to know 'em when he sees 'em.]
Not that I do, either, but at least I know you're probably supposed to start with a saddle.
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 12:05 am (UTC)[...]
And then of course, there's always the ones that fly with a rider, as well.
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 12:23 am (UTC)I do like flying.
[He also liked being an asshole to people who didn't like flying. Or at least, who didn't like plummeting earthward from 14.2 or whatever miles above the ground.]
But I don't mind walking for now. I'm traveling with a couple members of my old team, too, so it wouldn't really be fair if I took off on some noble steed and left them. Thanks for the suggestions, though.
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 12:56 am (UTC)[And, following a little bit of hustle and bustle on her side of the camera, an Altaria comes into view, all sleek blue lines and cloudy wings.]
I'm sure she'd be very serviceable when it comes to that sort of thing; she's very soft, and clever too.
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 01:09 am (UTC)[He really is impressed.]
She's gorgeous. That's a beautiful bird you got there, Miss Everett. She's really strong enough to carry a whole person?
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 01:16 am (UTC)[Read: "I realize I am like thirty pounds soaking wet and could be knocked over by a strong breeze, um."]
...But I've heard good things about her breed, and she is part a dragon, so!
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 03:48 am (UTC)[He's heard about Dragon types on the radio, of course--it's better than listening to the same music over and over--but still. S t i l l. He shakes his head and laughs a little.]
You know, I've heard it, and I accept it, but sometimes it still hits me what a crazy world I've landed myself in somehow. Ghosts and dragons. Unbelievable.
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 04:54 am (UTC)He's quite big now, that dinosaur, and he wasn't very small when he hatched, either.
video;
Date: 2015-09-26 02:57 pm (UTC)[What is this Pokélife.]
It's like everything six-year-old me could've wanted. Except Little York would've petitioned for more cars so we could have high-speed chases against the dinosaurs.
